Notes : Shortly after birth, Stephen's mother and stepfater (Leslie Goodfellow - a pilot for BOAC) moved to Lagos, Nigeria. Here he suffered from Malaria fever. In 1955 Manon and Leslie's marriage broke up. Mother and son moved back to London, England. Manon met Morten Meilgaard in 1956 and in 1959 they moved to Copenhagen, Denmark where Stephen lived until he was fourteen.
In 1967 the family moved to Monterrey, Mexico where Stephen lived until 1969, when he moved to England for further education.
Stephen went to East Ham Technical College in for his Foundation Course in Art (1969-1971, then to Hull regional College of Art for his Dip A.D. (Bacholors of Art).
Stephen's parents had moved to Detroit, Michigan in 1973, where he joined them in 1975. In Detroit, he went to Wayne State University and completed his Masters of Art, then his Masters of Fine Art.
Upon completion of his studies, He became an independent full time artist.
Stephen moved to New York City in 1986, where he lived on 46th St, between 5th & 6th for two years.
In 1987 he married Susan Sands and moved back to Detroit, where he moved from his studio into a house on 146 Farrand Park, Highland Park.
Susan and Stephen divorced in 1992, and Stephen remarried in 1995 to Laurenn Rowland.
On December 13th, 2000 their son Ari Prospero Goodland was born.
